Introduction
Smite loki is a god of Norse mythology. He is a god of trickery and mischief, he is also connected to magic and can take any form he wants. He does not belong to the Aesir, although he lives with them. It is often considered a symbol of evil, treacherous, of little confidence; and although their antics usually cause short-term problems for the gods, they often benefit, in the end, from Smite loki’s antics. He is among the most complex figures in Norse mythology.
He has a great sense of strategy and uses his skills for his interests, involving intrigue and complex lies. Being a mix of god and giant, his relationship with the other gods is troubled. According to Nordic legends he would lead an army in Ragnarok. However, he is respected by Thor. He also helps Thor retrieve his Mjölnir hammer, stolen by the giants, obtains some of the most precious artifacts from the gods – such as Odin’s own spear, Gungnir, Sif’s golden hair and Freyr’s magical ship, Skidbladnir.
The references to Smite loki are in Edda in verse, compiled in the 13th century from traditional sources, in Edda in prose and in Heimskringla, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. It also appears in Runic poems, poetry of scalds, and Scandinavian folklore. There are theories that connect the character with air or fire, and that he may be the same figure as the god Lóðurr, one of Odin’s brothers.
Lore of LOKI
Although he has saved the gods from many predicaments, his betrayal is much greater. In the myth of Balder’s death, it was he who tricked Höder into shooting Balder to death with a mistletoe arrow. As punishment, he became entangled with the bowels of his son Narfes, which was turned into iron, into the underground on three sharp stones; one under his shoulders, one on his lands and one on his knee. Smite loki deals more damage with his basic attacks when hitting enemies from behind. Their basic attacks also employ a five strike progressive chain.
Vanish
Loki disappears in a burst of smoke. While invisible, it moves faster, removes, and gains immunity to Slowness effects and takes 25% less damage. Your next basic attack while sneaking (or for 2s later) bleeds your target every 0.5s and reveals Smite loki.
Decoy
Loki materializes a double-decoy that taunts all nearby enemy minions. After a brief interval, the decoy explodes, damaging all enemies in the beam.
Aimed Strike
Upon activating, Smite loki’s next basic attack deals additional damage for a short period. Enemies hit are also slow.
Assassinate
Upon activation, Smite loki teleports to his ground target location. If an enemy god is within the radius, Smite loki will backstab that target doing damage and stunning them.
How to play Loki
Thanks to his strong ability to catch the enemy unnoticed from behind, Loki is ideal for jungling, as he can always emerge from the jungle to take advantage of the element of surprise.
Since Smite loki is an assassin, he shouldn’t start the fight first, but take the time to wait and then pick the weakest opponent to quickly kill him. According to Hi-Rez Studios, Loki should initially buy the warrior tabi of the second level and a healing potion to keep up with the opponents.
Tips and Tricks to play Loki
Smite loki’s build is not fixed, that is, it does not follow 1 pattern, but here is my most used build for each situation:
ARENA: Warrior Tabi + Lament Hydra + Jotun + Titan + Hooligan’s Club + Death Herald
Assets: Debilitating Curse + Purification
This build with hooligan club should be used when there are opponents that use healing like: Hela, aphrodite etc., because it prevents them from regenerating the hp.
ARENA: Tabi Warrior + Jotun + Titan + Fury + Malice + Herald of Death
Assets: Fist of the Gods + Blink
You will really like this build when you have physical opponents because you take high critical damage and kill very fast. In magicians it gets to take above 1k in the critical
ARENA / FAIR / ASSAULT: Tabi Warrior + Jotun + Lament Hydra + Transcendence + Titan + Herald of death
Assets: Fist of the Gods + Blink
This build is for those who want to have very high power, get to kill some magicians with only 1 hit.

Well … let’s go to the basic tips now:
As Smite loki has little life and little defense … the best thing to do is to play around the sides of the arena, where you get the damage / mana / speed buffs and attack when your team advances.
Some game play situations
Loki comes out of the jungle to see an enemy Odin and Cupid pushing the right lane he activates vanish to sneak up on Odin and uses assassinate to stun him. He then activates decoy to zone the fight and secure the Odin kill cupid is finished off by Zeus’s lightning storm.
In a different fight scenario Smite loki comes out of the jungle to see Guan Yu being pushed back to his tower and Smite loki activates vanish to sneak into the fight. Then uses his assassination ability to surprise Guan yu you who then immediately attempts to cut him off with decoy and then gets the kill with aimed strike in this fight.

Some more tips
- When pushing a wave to attack a tower, if the minion wave is behind, then go behind the big minion and start to zig-zag to keep in pace with the wave to ensure reaching the enemy tower as fast as possible without being targeted.
- Spam laughing isn’t just a fun thing to do, you may also use it to irritate or taunt the enemy. Humans will act like humans so whenever you kills someone, spam laugh their corpse to get them to focus you rather than someone else in your team. This will mean that it will be harder for you to re-kill that target but also makes it easier because people who use anger and frustration as a fighting tool will tend to mess up more frequently.
- Loki’s passive isn’t crit. Crit is 2x damage off of your basic attack. Smite loki’s passive just adds 20% damage from behind off of your basic attack. (Because of this, people think that DB will work well with Smite loki because they think his passive is crit, It’s true that the passive works well with any crit because crit applies first then 20% bonus damage from passive is added but then again, 20% crit chance is very low.)
