Mythological Reference of Smite Zeus

In Smite, Zeus has control over electric thunder and brings down his fury on men of injustice. Zeus is the King of God strives for fairness and justice and brings down his enemy to prevail in peace and harmony in the world. Zeus’s brothers were swallowed by his father, Titan Cronus as soon as they were born so that none could overthrow him.

Zeus was fortunate to have been saved by her mother Rhea. She devised a plan to save Zeus by giving Cronus a stone wrapped in a drape which was promptly swallowed by him. Zeus secretly grew on the Isle of Crete until he was capable enough to defeat his father. During the battle, Zeus tore apart Cronus’s stomach unleashing his brothers and sisters and finally killed his father. 

Zeus then released the Cyclops who was held captive by his father. Indebted by his actions, Cyclops gave Zeus control over lightning. Along with his two brothers Poseidon ( God of the Ocean) and Hades ( God of the underworld), the three Gods set sail to win over the universe. Zeus now rules Gods and men from his golden throne at mount Olympus along with his wife Hera fighting for justice and honesty, ready to serve everyone under his domain. While Zeus wants everyone to maintain their standards, he himself doesn’t often follow that.

His disloyalty towards his wife led to dozens of children most famous of which are Hercules ( God of strength and heroes), Artemis ( Goddess of wild animals), and Athena ( Goddess of Wisdom and military victory). Due to his infidelities, Hera remained upset by her husband, though King Zeus could ultimately do as he wishes.

Abilities

1. Chain Lightning

Zeus fires a bolt of lightning that gives a blow to every enemy doing damage and applying a charge on each hit.

2. Aegis Assualt

Zeus throws his shield forward damaging near by enemies.

 3. Detonate Charge

Zeus sets off any charge that has accumulated on enemies, doing damage, multiplied by 1/2/3 depending on the number of charges. Enemies get stunned at the time of the explosion.

 4. Lightning Storm

It is Zeus’s ultimate move where he unleashes a lightning storm falling heavily on all the enemies present in that area every second

How to counter Zeus?

Smite’s Zeus is a powerful God; though some players do not consider him strong enough. It depends upon the player. The destructive and dominating nature of Smite Zeus makes it important for us to counter him.

• Watch out and keep an eye on your enemy( Zeus). This is the first step and should be considered pretty seriously.
• Some players go with the basic attacks like mentalis telecoms ring, demonic grip haste but it might not prove effective against Zeus. The best way to counter Zeus is to have a look at his cooldown reduction. In case of full cooldown reduction, Zeus unleashes Detonate Charge after every 6 seconds. If in case he lacks the cooldown item it may increase to 10 seconds which can be a piece of good news for you.
• Coming to his ultimate movie aka Lightning Storm covers a pretty big radius and most of the players are unaware of it. Well, many of the players can easily escape the ultimate move but in combination with Odi’s ultimate move, it becomes a little bit difficult but not impossible. In order to get out it you take the help of certain items like Aegis Amulet and boost it up to Greater Aegis or you can go for Aegis Amulet that makes you immune for a few seconds. You can also buy Greater Sprint and sprint out of it and if attacked will not reduce your speed for about 6 seconds.
• If while countering Zeus you see his hairs start flowing rapidly along with a fist pump thing, then in the next 6 or 10 seconds he cannot detonate charge which makes him vulnerable to attack within that time span. Just jump in and try to kill him but if you can’t burst him down then it may be an issue for you.

Playing Smite Zeus

Zeus is a very powerful mage and has been an important part of Smite for a very long time. Playing Zeus is not that tough but understanding his abilities and its correct application is what makes Zeus dangerous. Zeus can deal with an appreciable amount of damage but being a mage he cannot tolerate many attacks. Positioning in the case of Zeus is an important and deciding factor because he has zero escape options. 

Once you are in a team fighting phase, you should do what makes usually do. Use your abilities and then move back to see them work and let the rest of your team do the killings. Fighting without cooldown will not really work hence back off to safety and waiting for your abilities to cool down is not a bad option. The last thing you should take care of is the ultimate move. Use your Lightning Storm when you are surrounded by a horde of enemies and you will see your ultimate move do wonders.
