All about Anubis Smite God!
Smite for those of you who don’t know is a third person MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) developed and published by Hi-Rez Studios available on Windows, macOS, Switch and Xbox One. The game involves you controlling a God or a Goddess as you and your team take on other teams using fighting abilities specific to each character and using team strategy.
In this blog today we will be discussing one of the Gods we can play as in the game by the name of Anubis.
Story/Lore behind Anubis Smite
Nephthys the Goddess of Darkness wanted an offspring, but her husband Set was infertife. So being the clever Goddess she was, she transformed into Isis, the wife of Set’s brother Orisis and seduced him into having a child. From that pair Anubis was born. Orisis took care of Anubis as his own until he was killed by none other than his own brother Set.

“Anubis embalmed his adopted father and mummified the corpse so he would not rot. This preservation passed down to the Faithful, for if it was good enough for the Gods, it was good enough for man. None enter the abyss of the Underworld without first being tested by Anubis Smite. When corpses are preserved, he is the embalmer. When time for judgment comes, he is the final arbiter.
In his realm, he keeps legendary weighing scales. On one side, the massive weight of Ma’at – truth and order. On the other side, he places the heart of the deceased. What people do not know about this God in the game is the fact that Bastet along with Anubis were the first 2 egyptian Gods in the game. ANd it also was one of the first 17 Gods playable in the closed beta environment.
Abilities of Anubis Smite
- Plague of Locusts
Anubis has the ability of releasing a plague of locusts from his mouth, instantly smothering all enemies in the area and doing damage every 5 seconds for 3 seconds. Upon this, while channeling Anubis is immune to knockback
- Mummify
This is an ability you would expect from the God of Death, he has the power to fire a bandage projectile and mummify and stun his target.
- Grasping Hands
The official website comments, “Anubis calls for help from the underworld as hands penetrate the ground and claw at his enemies, doing damage and Slowing every .5s for 2s. “
- Death Gaze
In this ability Anubis concentrates all his energy in a gaze, giving damage to all the enemies in the path of the gaze, for 0.1 second every 3 seconds.
- Passive – Sorrow
All of the abilities of the God steal Physical and Magical protection from the target and increase healing he obtained the Magical Lifesteal.

Night Walker is a normal skin, which was released before the Anubis remodel and changes his skin to white.

The skin is a reference to the Stargate Franchise

The skin shares quite some resemblance to hyena and was used in many events.

The skin is a reference to pop culture, peacekeeping dog groups in the hands of the police and the resemblance is quite uncanny.

An interesting fact about this skin is that this was the first skin to change the animation to the ability of Plague of Locusts. The skin clearly gives the Death vibe the God should have.

The skin has a mystical aura sound it and is really catchy to the eye. It is an exclusive skin.

The skin is a pop culture reference to the animated film zootopia and was actually based on a fan art.

The God gets a tail in the skin which isn’t present in the normal avatar.

The skin is a limited skin and is one of the better ones.

This skin is a combination of the fearful God Anubis Smite is with technology, and I have to say the end result looks really cool.

Tricks How To Be A Better by Anubis Smite
- Anubis can deal a lot of damage if you know how to handle him. But in speed he lags quite a lot, so positioning is something that becomes really important is you are playing as Anubis.
- Prioritize targets, it is better to attack one of the stronger gods in the game with Anubis Smite early on as he probably has one of the most damage to do so.
- The mantra is simple with Anubis Smite, Fight not Flight, he is great at giving damage and not so great at running away, so if you find yourself in a situation it is much better for you and your team to fight and not to try to run away.
- What is really important when you are doing Anubis is to learn your combos and know the pros and cons of each one of them.
- At the end, the fact is that if you are playing Anubis Smite you have to be fearless while doing it. You have to make decisions quickly and not hesitate.
