After a 15 year long wait, Valve announced the launch of Half-life : Alyx, its first VR flagship game. Fans were pleasantly surprised and overjoyed with this rather unexpected announcement by Valve. The announcement was made on Valve’s new twitter account, later retweeted by Valve’s official Steam Twitter account stating “We’re excited to unveil Half-Life: Alyx, our flagship VR game, this Thursday at 10 am Pacific Time. Can’t wait to share it with all of you”.
Half-Life is a series of first-person shooter games which includes a set of games that carry out the main storyline. Half Life games were released in a chronological order, that portrayed events of each game from the perspective of a different character. The main series includes the original video games, three expansion packs and two episodic games. There have also been several spin off games.
Half-life 2 : episode 2 was the last game developed by this franchise that was released way back in 2007. With episode 2 ending on an emotional cliffhanger, dedicated fans were left in anticipation. Most assumed the sequel was never coming.
Then on Thursday at 10 am Pacific Time, Valve released this. It was more than what fans were hoping for!

Valve broke this news on twitter and as expected the whole world went bonkers! Half-Life: Alyx won’t dwell with the old hanging issues, rather this is a Prequel to Half-life 2. The story lines takes place somewhere in between Half-Life & Half-Life 2.
Valve described the game as :
Lean to aim around a broken wall and under a Barnacle to make an impossible shot. Rummage through shelves to find a healing syringe and some shotgun shells. Manipulate tools to hack alien interfaces. Toss a bottle through a window to distract an enemy. Rip a Headcrab off your face and throw it at a Combine soldier.
Valve says that players will need a VR headset to play, because Half-Life: Alyx is exclusively designed for virtual reality. It won’t be available for Computer screens or other mainstream gaming consoles. But there is a great news, if you don’t own Valve Index, any other VR devices such as Oculus Rift, the Oculus Quest with the new Link cable, the HTC Vive, or Windows Mixed Reality headsets should work.
Valve has taken 15 years to create a new Half-Life Game and fans are excited all around the globe to live a whole new VR experience. Valve’s Half Life Alyx is very unique and first of its kind. It gives us glimpse of what future games are going to look like. Valve has always been one of the trend setter. But will this game live up to the hype, only time will tell. The game will be launched on March 20, 2020 and its available for pre-purchase on steam
The surroundings of the game is breathtaking to say the least. This first person shooting game is one of its kind. No one has dared to create such an intensive VR game! Half-Life: Alyx has great graphics, one can even see finger tracking on VR. Its definitely one of the next big thing on Virtual Reality!
