Valve just dropped a new year’s update
Valve recently applied a new patch to DOTA 2. You can be forgiven for not noticing, as this update wasn’t publicized as much as its other updates. The reason for this may be the fact that the update really changed a few abilities. The update was applied to the game on January the Second.
It also added an automatic endpoint called “Frostivus is over” which will close of all the seasonal content from Jan 2.
All the changes
The update brought some slight changes to the animations of the game. Phantom Lancer, Pudge, Terrorblade, and Void Spirit had some particles reworked for some basic animations and attacks. These aren’t the most notable, however. The most notable change is the tone down of Snapfire’s muzzle flash when she fires her shotgun. This perhaps shows Valve’ dedication to pay attention to even the smallest of details.
The update also involved updating the abilities of several characters so that their behavior can be shown in guides.
The following list shows the heroes and abilities that had their behaviour updated:
- Eject of Pudge
- Projection of Templar Assassin’s Psionic
- Wolf Bite of Lycan
- Unrefined Fireblast of Ogre Magi’s
This can all be obtained through the Aghanim’s Scepter item.
While this patch didn’t have much to show for updates, the next patch probably will. It will most likely come after January 12, after the WePlay! Bukovel Minor which will run from Jan 9-12.
