Tyler McViker from the Valve News Network tweeted,

Although the developer of the game still assures the gamers that it is still safe to play but it is known whenever the source code is available in the open there are people exploiting it. Although there might not be an immediate threat, it is better to stay conscious in the long run. One advantage that Valve has is that both these games are actively maintained so they can easily counteract the threat with a few updates. As of now it’s best to keep our fingers crossed and stay away from the said games.
