Widely regarded as the world’s best First-Person Perspective Shooter, CounterStike: Global Offensive (CS:Go) recently released an incredible update after two years. Yes, it is amazingly true, after 20 years CS:GO has characters now. The update dubbed Operation Shattered Web introduced “agents” and several other cosmetic upgrades. For 20 long years, CS: GO players have worn drab generic character skins in minute-long matches. Hardcore CS gamers will remember skins like “Phoniex Connexion” or “Elite Crew”.
The repetitive outfits, however, did embed themselves into the core identity of the game. With Operation Shattered Web, however, it’s time for a huge personality change.
Operation Shattered Web: CounterStike has characters now
Valve, a popular game designer and publisher posts the update announcement on the CounterStrike website..”For the first time in CS: GO, unlock all-new T and CT-sided characters equipable on any map,” it said. “All-new CT Operators and T Agents are available as mission progress rewards. Complete missions and earn Stars to unlock them and equip them for deployment. Or equip the default Local Agent or Operator to use the pre-existing map-based characters.”
22 new characters introduced
The new characters skins are part of a reward system, becoming unlockable as progress rewards; “stars”. And like any good game developer would do, Valve places these skins on a pecking order leaving players on the edge of their seats craving more. Rarity identifiers such as “Superior Agent” or “Exceptional Agent” to differentiate them. “Master Agents” are the top of the food chain with titles like “ LT Commander Rickshaw” These Master agents also come with their own custom post-match voice animations and celebrations increasing their appeal.
Shattered Web: CS GO’s new Operation.
This is the first new operation launched after two years. Shatterweb is currently priced at $15 (Approx. 1080 INR). Making it significantly more pricey than even the most recent operations. Following the trend of new Operations revealing new game maps, ShatterWeb introduces “Studio, Lunacy, and Jungle.” Cosmetic graffiti and new stickers are also available.
