For people who don’t know Hearthstone is an adjunct of the Warcraft franchise. It brings about a fresh new look to the game.
Since the game’s inception, hearthstone’s story told within have always been felt unnecessary and strange at times.
The developers, MMORPG, are tasked with finding a grand storyline backed by 15 years of canon. Player choice and the existential cinematics etc. They have somewhat succeeded in it with the likes of the Tortollan race of ancient turtle people showing up in World of Warcraft.
Hearthstone may be another the other addition to the list with it being quietly tucked along. Blizzard, launched over a year ago witnessed a simple and fun storytelling. Galakrond’s Awakening, the latest storyline only strengthens Hearthstone’s case. An Indiana Jones-esque series is said to follow along with a massive dragon back from the dead to be the centre of attraction.
The success of Hearthstone has duly come after a lot of trial and errors.
Rise of Shadows and Saviors of Uldum set up a John Wick like run, with players facing different bosses whilst upgrading the character.
“It was pretty tough,” said Ryan Collins, Hearthstone game designer, in an interview with Polygon. “We were like, ‘oh, wow, we’ve pretty much perfected what we think dungeon runs are. Let’s change it all!”
One fascinating aspect of the game is that none of its stories are based on real life events. They all are fictional to core where the narrator is the vocal point to keep the audiences engaged.
Considering the long hours being invested to develop each story, Hearthstone is as eccentric as the developers could have the designed the game.
Is Hearthstone’s story the best part of Warcraft right now? “We make sure we know who you’re playing, what their deck is, who you’re facing and what their deck is, and that allows us to write the dialogue and give more story moments and beats,” added Collins.
