Rocket League had never been able to match the popularity of rival games such as League of Legends, PES, or Fortnite. Released in July 2015, it never managed to hit the peaks as it’s rivals. Developed by Psyonix, Rocket League is a vehicular soccer game available in platforms such as PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It has recently on 25th March, set a new record for concurrent players. More than 550,000 drivers were registered and loaded into Rocket league’s bumper title on the 25th.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the gaming world has witnessed a surge in the Gamers numbers. High-profile games such as CS:GO, League of Legends, DOTA 2 have hit unprecedented heights and now even Rocket League joins the party as it has risen to join the record-shattering ranks.
Recently, Rocket League experienced a humongous 1500% growth from the norm, scoring its highest player count.
Rocket League had always attracted a plethora of players who have found keen interest in this unique game. In mid-2016, the game had around 30,000 average users which prove it’s popularity. Since then, the football game’s title has only fallen twice below the high-water mark.
Recently, Rocket League experienced a humongous 1500% growth from the norm. According to the API stats website, 551,072 players had logged in across all platforms at one time. Surreal, isn’t it?
Most of the drivers logged into the title’s main 3v3 gaming mode. 170,000 were in line for unranked gameplay. 54,000 others loaded 3v3 ranked lobbies and 87,000 in double ranked lobbies.
Rocket League has shown so signs of slowing down as the 550,000 players are constantly sweating it out across Salty Shores, Champions Field, and Beckwith Park.
Though Rocket League has smashed player base records, scoring its highest player counts in recent times, it is not the only game to do so. CS:GO recently crossed the 1 million mark for the first time in history.
A new season of competitive ranked play coupled with brand new Ronin car models played a crucial role in Rocket League’s player numbers getting skyrocketed.
