Dokkan Battle had its best two months in 2019.

Based on the popular anime series, the fighting game has passed $1 billion in April 2018, before reaching $1.6 billion in March earlier this year. Sensor tower’s Official annotations show that the revenue spike in February is largely due to the release of Dragon Ball Super : Broly in the United States. This was launched simultaneously with a worldwide in-game event based on the film. July’s revenue growth coincide with a special fourth anniversary event.

So far Japanese users are the biggest spender accounting for a whopping total of $1.2 billion.

This is 58% of the total lifetime revenue. The United States came in second with a total spending of $452 million which equates to 22%, followed by France with $112 million or 6 percent.

As expected, the app store generated the most revenue with a total of $1 billion. Google Play users spent just a little less, with a total of $982 million.  Not surprisingly Japan was number one for downloads with 10 million followed by the U.S with 9 million and Brazil with 8 million downloads. The Average revenue spent per download is approximately $35.

Numerous in-game events and other parallel theatrical releases account to this legendary franchise’s revenue spikes. Keeping the fans and players continuously engaged and updated with new content gives the game its prolonged success and longevity.
