Dota 2 retired players this uncertain season

2020 hasn’t been right for many for us. We are staying indoors evaluating our life decisions and figuring out what to do next. Turns out, even some pro Dota 2 players are doing the same. Many Dota 2 retired players have made the tough decision staying put at home and thinking what to do next .Peter “ppd” Dager decided to hang up his boots after a long & successful career.Well he isn’t the only one to have retired this year. There have been some hard goodbyes made by some pros this year. Here is our list of all Dota 2 retired players this year:-

1. Anatan “ana” Fam:-

It was announced on 25th January,2020 that ana would be extending his his break from competitive Dota2 until the 2020-21 DPC.

“Our carry player and Io god ana will extend his break and come back for the next season,” OG said. “Rest well Anathan!” OG posted a short video of its players celebrating the TI 2019 win with the announcement coming at the end.

2.  Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka:-

It was two days after the previous announcement that OG were dealt with another blow. The player stayed 4 years on the roster and gave fans plenty of moments to remember.

The player said in a interview that “(he did not have)willingness nor passion to play Dota 2 anymore”. JerAx retirement left two places on the active rosters up for grabs and forced OG to plan the season differently.

“I have been very fortunate to have my spot as a professional player, and I can’t quite understand how I ended up at this point. Small things could have been different, and I would have never made it,” JerAx was quoted saying in a interview.

3. Saahil “Universe” Arora:-

The former Nip player was the most recent player to retire this year after being released from his former roster.

“I have decided to retire as a player from competitive dota 2,” the 30-year-old stated his decision on his twitter account. “Whenever I do anything in life I tend to be an all or nothing type of person and dota was no different. For the past 10 years I have given everything I have to this game/competition and it was an incredible experience.

“Now the time has come to pursue other interests and figure out what comes next. Thank you to my fans and past teammates for the amazing memories I will never forget.”

Universe was best known for his stint with Evil Geniuses from 2013-16 where he helped the team win The International in 2015.

4. Peter “ppd” Dager :-

The legendary player decided to end his Dota 2 journey on 21st April, 2020 which came as surprise to many. He announced his decision via a tweet stating  he was “looking for something else” and admitted he couldn’t find his current position. ppd helped EG to win The International 2015 which still to date remains one of the best displays of his play making skills

Th.e now former NiP captain was thanked for his services by his former employees stating he was “now part of the NiP legacy and will be remembered as one of the greats, in NiP and e-sports alike.” Jonas Gundersen, the COO of NiP also complimented the legendary player and thanked for his contribution to the game.
