NBA 2K20 is the newest edition to the NBA Series and was released on 6 September 2019 on the platforms PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows. Now the NBA series is mostly known for their amazing Gameplay inside the court, and this is something they have excelled again with NBA 2K20. It can be easily called the best addition to the franchise since it has surpassed the previous 2K19 version of the game. The overall impression of the game is pretty satisfying whether you are playing with your favorite team or controlling an individual in a career or playing online.
A notably big change is that turbo is no longer omnipresent anymore. You have to use the turbo only when required in specific quantities, which makes sense, further it makes many moves such as a blow by much more effective.
The tutorial mode is particularly helpful if you are playing this game after a long period of time. It doesn’t take more than an hour to complete and helps you brush off your old skill while acquainting you with the newer abilities in the latest edition. Further it might help you to even learn some new moves that you weren’t so comfortable with previously.
Problems
- On the other side people have noticed a few problems with a game too. A player mentions “far-too-frequent double team that happens on any player who scores a handful of points in succession. The idea is right – adjustments need to be made on players who are hot – but it’s often far too premature and easy to break down.”
- A problem noticed with the turbo thing however is the fact without turbo the players don’t reach their top speeds which I think can be argued.
Single Vs Multiplayer
It is certainly clear that more importance has been given to the online segment of the game. Now this is understandable since the income throughout the year is mainly through the online multiplayer platforms and not the offline, quick play or career mode.
WNBA
The WNBA has received mixed reactions from players. Although the gameplay has been praised but there have been mixed reviews in regard to the commentary or the player interactions.
Final Impression
Overall the game is still good enough and clearly outperforms any other competition, but then again for the NBA series the competition was always from itself and making a significant leap with every new game. In that respect apart from the tweaks in the actual gameplay and to some extent the improvement tries in the other segments of the game, this game has not been made “way better” than it’s previous edition. This game is amazing to the people who are new to the franchise or have been for some time away from it but for people who were waiting for this game, it hasn’t really surprised them with great improvements.
