Is Legends of Runeterra that Addicting?

So today what we have for you is a new game. Legends of Runeterra. So basically Legends of Runeterra is a free-to-play collectible card game developed by Riot Games. It exists in the same universe as that of League of Legends, which is another extremely popular multiplayer game by the same developer. The open beta was released or Windows on Jan 24th this year itself. 

Gameplay

The game features a 1v1 format. So the game begins and you have 4 cards randomly chosen from your deck, apart from this you also have 20 health points. Before the game begins you get the option of trading your cards with any random cards from your deck. 

After this one player gets the attack token while the other one receives the defence token. Now in the respective round only the player with the attack token is allowed to attack and these tokens switch every round.

There is an aspect of something by the name of mana gems in the game as well. Wikipedia describes the use of mana gems as ‘As the number of rounds increases, so too does the number of mana gems each player receives, up to a maximum of 10. At the end of each round, any unused mana becomes spell mana, up to a maximum of three. This mana can only be used to cast spell cards.’.

The objective is to bring the health of the enemy’s nexus to 0. The attacker puts forward attack cards while the defender has to defend. Each of the cards has defending or attack abilities measured in points. The difference in the points decides whether the health of the nexus remain the same in the round or reduce (if the attacker’s points are greater than the defending points of the defender’s card)

Three types of Cards in Legends of Runeterra

The cards are of the following types-

1. Champions

They are the most powerful cards in the game Legends of Runeterra. They also have the option of being made even more powerful after getting upgrades.

2. Followers

They consist of all the other normal playable cards

3. Spells

They can be used to enhance the strength of the other cards and make the game more favourable to your side.

Overall Impression

The digital collectible card game is quite interesting and has a lot to it. The cards and the characters in them too are very eye catching. And if you were to start to play this game, I can say for sure that you will be hooked at least for that initial time. And that is a characteristic of a really good game.
