Lets Look at Average League Salary of Pro LoL Players

Look at Average League Salary of Pro LoL Players

League of Legends is a game that has been continuously rising in terms of number of players for the past 11 years now one reason why that is true is because of the amazing gameplay but another big reason is because of the championships and the leagues that have been created because of that. Now every multiplayer game has the incentive to be better than the others, to reach the highest level. But what happens when you are on the top, all the incentives in the game die down. Now to keep the high level players or the “pros” still interested in the game, the championship and thus leagues are formed.

League of Legends Championship Series

Riot games knew that and so became the first league to provide a baseline salary for starters in 2013, the goal then was to create stability. In fact the NA LCS (North America League of Legends Championship series ) gives an average of $300,000 to each pro player. Now to put this into perspective it is same as the average salary of  athletes playing Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs

Before this had happened it was kind of off putting to be a professional player in the League of Legends. Simply because if the players did not start winning high level competitions with good money it would become difficult to justify the amount of time and labor being put in the game. But now with players getting an average baseline salary it becomes much more easier.

Now the figure of $300,000 becomes even more astonishing when we get to know that this same average was a mere $105,000 a few years ago, so it has as a matter of fact increased by much more than twice.

Reason for Average League Salary of Pro LoL Players?

This can be attributed to 2 things

1.  Overall rise of the Esports industry is a key factor that has played a big role in this. Especially for the game LoL the industry has skyrocketed in the past few years

2.  The second reason is to stop the famous ones from going and start their Youtube Channel. Now everyone knows streaming is a lucrative business than playing in competitions. Competitive Gamers face a lot of the stress and the fact that Streaming might increase your earnings. In order to solve this balancing problem, leagues have started to pay the players more to keep them stuck to playing competitive Esports.
