EA faces backlash over a minor glitch!

EA Sports Backlash

EA Sports is facing quite some backlash from its players over its handling of a glitch. The glitch made thousands of players obtain a coveted FIFA Ultimate Team card for a fraction of its acual price.

Yedder Fifa EA Glitch

The card in the spotlight was Monaco’s FC Wissam Ben Yedder. An 88 rated player, an improved version of the striker’s card.

Ben Yedder was decided as the reward for the recently uploaded Ligue 1 Player of the Month Squad Building Challenge (SBC). The FIFA challenge required the exchange of five separate squads to complete. Each with different requirements such as nationality, team rating and chemistry.

One of the required squads rewarded players with a rare electrum players pack which could be exchanged with an overall rating of 86. But a mystery bug allowed players to have rare pack even with an overall rating of 80. This made it super easy and cheaper if players were buying from the live marketplace to complete the SBC. The cost difference was around 150,000 to 200,000 which in fairness is huge.

Expectedly, many players jumped to pounce on the glitch and the word “Ben Yedder” trended on twitter as soon as the news broke out.

Live streamers of the game took it as an opportunity to highlight the glitch and take full advantage of the situation.

EA on its part pulled the SBC offline for approx half an hour after its availability. Players who were then in the process of completing the SBC were forced to return the exchanged cards. Which they had already seen. The bug was then cleared and the new rollout began. Alongside the return of Ligue 1 Player of the Month SBC with more expensive requirements.

The backlash due came from fans who could not complete the bugged SBC in time. Claiming that people who already had completed the challenge was allowed to keep their cards. Some even accused EA of been unfair to people who only visit the game for SBC .

As of now there is nothing to suggest that EA will take out the Ben Yedder card from those who obtained it via a glitch.
