FIFA and Electronic Arts recently announced the EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 4 Series (Road to FIFA eContinental Cup™) a brand new version of the online FIFA Online 4 ecosystem.
The new version of FIFA Online 4 built in partnership with FIFA will continue for over 10 months in 7 countries and host 4 international events along with new domestic qualifiers.
The already competitive international structure will end at the brand new FIFA eContinental Cup- the top most award for any FIFA Online 4 player. With the aim to have a more general audience and expand the game, the expansion will now allow more than double the number of teams (52) and players (156) for a shot at the highest level.
Daniel Choi, FIFA Online 4 Competitive Gaming Commissioner exclusively said in a statement, “ The world’s esport for the world’s game, the FIFA Online 4 Series will help make stars of all our players throughout Asia as we continue to grow, Through our collaboration with FIFA, we’re eager to see fans across the continent passionately engage with the competition as both a player and a spectator.”
Adrian Roelli, the leader of the FIFA esport’s program said, “This is a hugely exciting step for FIFA as we start to take an active role in hosting FIFA Online 4 events that are tailored for the Asian territory, home to some of the most engaged gaming fans and communities in the world.”
Concluding and predicting the success of the competition he added,”Local heroes will emerge within the new ecosystem and will make the competitive FIFA scene a truly global eSport. As well as driving huge excitement among stakeholders and increasing content consumption and participation, these new competitions will further enhance and develop the football culture in Asia and build the bridge between real and virtual football”
Competition Structure :
EA and FIFA have agreed to add two more events: The FIFA Champions CUp in 2020 and the FIFA eContinental Cup, which is the pinnacle event of FIFA Online 4. A new final event added to an expanded offer for qualifiers events in more locations, the season will offer more opportunities.

The new season will debut at Korea with EA Champions Cup Winter to be event hosted. 12 teams from 7 countries will participate in order to gain an early lead in the season.
The action then moves to Thailand where FIFA Champions Cup will take place. This happens to be the first ever FIFA organised FIFA esports competition which will provide the same rewards, excitement and thrill as the previous EACC events.
The last event before the grand finals will take place at China with EA Champions Cup in the spotlight. Teams will look to secure their qualification at the FIFA eContinental Cup.
The final event of the new series will be the FIFA eContinental Cup which will host the top 16 teams in Asia as well as the teams qualifying via the leaderboard.
