Dota 2 Major to be held in Singapore in June 2020

Singapore is set to host some of the best Dota 2 teams around the world. It will hold the First Singapore Dota 2 major of 2020 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in June.

Announced on Wednesday, 18th December, the ONE Esports Singapore major will have a prize pool of US $1 million. While organized by ONE Esports in support with PGL and Singapore Tourism Board. 

The Dota 2 major will be a part of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC). It allows participating teams to earn DPC points which will be tabulated at the end of the season in June. The calendar period for the DPC’s last major is from June 20- 28th. 

The news comes just after the Global Esports Federation was launched in Singapore recently. And a week after the SEA esports Games 2019 were concluded in the Philippines.

Carlos Alimurung, ONE esports chief executive officer who made the announcement public also teased more events in the next year with Singapore playing host to other games as well. 

Fans did see the preview of the ONE Esports major when the same organizer hosted a Dota 2 invitational recently. The Singapore Indoor stadium was the host location in which top tier teams like Team Secret and PSG.LGD competed for a USD $500,000 prize pool. 

The top teams with the most DPC points get an invitation to Dota 2’s most prestigious and the biggest Esport competition.


The International (TI) , which held its 9th edition this year in August at Stockholm,Sweden.

The prize pool of TI was over US$33 million, where OG made history by becoming the first team to win back to back TIs. The win also helped them claim US$15 million from the prize pool. 

The Singapore Major will be the last major of 2020 and could play a deciding factor for which of the teams make it to ‘The International 2020’.
