DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 continued on its merry way with viewers getting more clear picture of who will qualify and which teams will miss out.
Day 5 saw the continuation of Group B in the European region and Group A of the NA region.
Here is our recap on how things panned out on Day 5 of the competition.
1. Europe Group B
The second day of play in Group B confirmed compLexity and BIG’s qualification for the next stage. compLexity managed to beat MAD Lions in two maps itself beating them 16-14 on Mirage and 16-9 on Vertigo. It was “blameF” who had the most kills in the series, topping with a respectable 45 frags. The more interesting stat is for the Danish IGL came in the second map where he died only 6 times during the course of the map.
With the min compLexity have a 2-0 W-L record and now face BIG in the last game for the first place.
The other match was between mousesports and BIG, which BIG managed to win 2-1. BIG lost Nuke 22-20 in double overtime but recovered with a close win on Vertigo winning 16-14. The final map Dust II was a demolition for mousesports squad as they lost 16-2.
The “karrigan” led team are experiencing a drop in form over the last month with many believing that the team being affected by the Kreig nerf. mousesports now face MAD Lions in their match, a match both the teams need to win to progress to the next stage.
2. NA Group A Day 5-
Team Liquid faced MiBR in a do or die match for the squad to not be eliminated from the competition. Liquid won yet again 2-0 to keep their hopes alive. Liquid won 16-11 on both Overpass and Inferno to keep the winning streak against MiBR going. It was “twistzz” who came up clutch in the game with 46 kills to his name.
MiBR failed to beat yet another Top 10 team in the world with the Brazilian squad really struggling in 2020 again. As things stand, only Furia have secured the qualification with the other three teams still in contention for the next stage. If Furia beat Chaos, Liquid and MiBR will go through, but if Chaos beat Furia, MiBR are set to miss out on the playoffs.
Note:- DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 was originally to take place in Jonkoping, Sweden but was shifted online due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The compeition will now have four regional events all taking place in between from 19th May to 14th June. 32 teams have been divided on their regional baese; Asia, Oceania, Europe & North America. DreamHack on its part have increased the prize pool from $250,000 to $300,000. To know the complete schedule, click here.
