The group stages of the European and the North American regions culminated on Day 12 of Dreamhack Masters Spring 2020. We now have all the confirmed teams which will participate in the playoffs starting from June 8th.

Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Spirit, Cloud9 and Gen.G were the teams to confirm their places in the playoffs of the competition.

Here is a recap on how these teams qualified after Day 12 of Dreamhack Masters Spring 2020.

1. Europe Group D

Ninjas in Pyjamas faced off against Ence in a do or die match for the Swedes. NiP had looked flat in both of game so far, owing to the surprise roster change they made. They needed this win for themselves and to salvage a position in the next round.

They came in well prepared for the clash against the Finns which resulted in a 2-0 victory for them. They triumphed 16-11 on Train and closed the series with a 19-17 victory on Inferno. “Nawwk” was again a monster on the server as he ended the game with a mammoth 59 kills to his name.

It was a sorry ending for Ence who failed to capitalize on a good start and bow out of the competition.

2. Europe Group C

The postponed fixture of Team Spirit against GODSENT was played on Day 12 of Dreamhack Masters Spring 2020. A victory for either of the teams would result in progression to the playoffs, with loser standing eliminated.

It was the returning “Mir” who made the difference as he literally carried his team to a 2-1 series victory. Spirit lost 12-16 on Train but bounced back with victories on Nuke and Inferno winning 16-7 and 16-9 respectively. “Mir” had a hand in 87 kills (72 kills, 15 assists) in the series making him the mvp.

GODSENT are now eliminated with Spirit placing 2nd in the group.

3. North America Group B

Cloud 9 faced off against Gen.G in a game to decide second and third place in the group. Evil Geniuses were already confirmed as the eliminated team in the group as both of these teams had a better superior head to head record against EG.

Cloud 9 looked more determined to take the second place with the team showing some good coordinated counter strike. They conquered Gen.G 2-0 winning 16-14 on Dust II and 16-9 on Train. ‘floppy” was the main man on the server with 53 kills in two maps.
