Ubisoft is a French video game company. It has its headquarters in Montreuil in France along with lots of development studios spread around the world. The company has made a mark on the gaming industry by publishing several benchmark video games including the likes of Prince of Persia, Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed etc. The company is counted in the Top 5 publicly traded video game company around the world.
History of Ubisoft
The company was founded by The Guillemot family in 1986. The company initially had other products but slowly ventured into games as the times changed. It was only in 2001 when Prince of Persia was released that the company started to get a stronghold in the gaming market. The development Branch of Ubisoft, Ubisoft Montreal developed this game as well as the sequel Prince of Persia The Sands of time in 2003 which was yet another critically appreciated game. It even started its own Ubisoft Motion Pictures, a film division of their own.
But as of now they have not released any content. In 2007 it released the first game in the Assassin’s Creed series, the most successful game franchise of the company. Among its studios Ubisoft Montreal is the biggest one having over 2500 employees . It is the most successful studio the company has.
In the recent times the video game company has been getting competition from its rivals such as Electronic Arts and Activision. Also the sales haven’t been that great for the company in 2019. To ride through these tough waters it has to release one big successful title in the upcoming year.
