Emily Rogers, a known Nintendo insider (via VGC) has come up with the report. Considering her past track record and reliability with her reports the claim looks almost a certainty. Going by her report on Resetera, there could be “at least two” Wii U ports announcements for 2020. Predicting the games shouldn’t be too difficult to predict as there aren’t many games left to port.
In addition, given the success that Nintendo had with these ports it is not at all surprising that they are planning to bring more of them on Switch.
Games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and New Super Mario Bros Deluxe have had massive success on Switch. While they would have languished at the bottom had they remained on Wii U.
If the reports are to be true, Rogers expects Mirage Sessions FE and Xenoblade Chronicles. It has to be on top given that they are already coming out on Switch in 2020.
Wonderful 101, Star Fox Zero, Super Mario 3D World along with the popular titles Zelda remasters Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. These are the most likely future options for port conversions. Fans across the globe have already signed petitions for port conversion for the most sought after titles already.
All this speculation means nothing if there are no announcements from Nintendo regarding the topic. We’ll have to wait for a Nintendo Direct event to see if any such announcements are made. With expectations high of a Nintendo Direct event happening soon, all that left is an official announcement from Nintendo.
Irrespective of its port plans, Nintendo’s first release of the year is Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is a Switch original which is slated for a March 3 release.
