TOP 5 MOBILE RACING GAMES IN AUGUST 2020 –
Grid Autosport-
Grid Autosport is a racing video game developed by Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Linux, iOS, macOS, Nintendo Switch and Android. It is the ninth game in the TOCA series. It aims to move the series back towards “more authentic racing games” following the release of Grid 2, which Codemasters felt was not as well-received by the company’s core fanbase as it was hoped for. The developers consequently introduced major modifications to the handling model and built a lean, race-first oriented design for this title.
Many critics who praised the game cited how Codemasters seemed to have “gone back to its roots”, with aspects from its early games in the series.
Feral Interactive, who brought the game to macOS and Linux, also brought the game to iOS on 27 November 2017. The Nintendo Switch version, also from Feral Interactive, was released on 19 September 2019, and their Android version of the game was released on 26 November 2019.
Gameplay –
In Grid Autosport, the player acts as a racing driver with opportunities to start and build their own racing career via the single-player Career mode, enter competitions with fellow players on the web via the multiplayer Online mode, customise their racing experience (vehicle, circuit, race type, difficulty, etc.) to their own tastes via the single-player Custom Cup mode, and play against each other via the multiplayer Split Screen mode. It is the first video game in GRID series not to feature Vehicle Customization this time in single player career as only featured in online mode.
The Career mode is divided into seasons before which the player each time has to choose between offers from the game’s racing teams. The teams – including the best-in-the-business Ravenwest, making a return from Race Driver: Grid – each have different season objectives and sponsor objectives.
The achievement of which earns extra experience points (XP) for the players besides those received for their results. Online racing is conducted via RaceNet, Codemasters’ community hub on which players can form racing clubs, earn XP and cash as they race and fulfill sponsor objectives, then use their earnings to purchase and upgrade vehicles. Soon after the game’s release, they were also presented with sets of specific challenges, called RaceNet Challenges, announced by Codemasters.
Cars –
The cars in the disciplines of Grid Autosport are further divided into tiers and classes of various strengths. Some of the highlights of the vehicles on offer are the contemporary BTCC (Class C), Stock Car Brasil (Class A) and V8 Supercars (Super Tourers) of the Touring discipline (e. g. Chevrolet Cruze and Holden Commodore (VF, as well as the present-day and classic GT cars of the Endurance discipline (like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (Category B) and the Ford GT40 Mk I), the Dallara DW12 chassis of the IndyCar Series (Formula A) from the Open Wheel discipline.
American muscle cars (e. g. the Ford Mustang Boss 302), among others, representing the Tuner discipline and the likes of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport and the Koenigsegg Agera R (Hypercars) representing the Street discipline. In total, including DLCs, the game features 103 cars. This is the second video game under Grid series not to feature Toyota cars and First in series not to feature Chevrolet Corvette.
Tracks –
In the case of the tracks, the main emphasis is on real-world permanent circuits which make up the majority of the courses in the game. These range from classics, such as Spa-Francorchamps, Brands Hatch, Mount Panorama and Indianapolis, to more modern facilities, like the Circuit of the Americas, Sepang, the Red Bull Ring and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. City locations with fictionally lined, but mostly real-world streets of San Francisco, Paris, Dubai etc., and – as DLCs – fictional point-to-point tracks in authentic settings complete the picture.

Riptide GP: Renegade –
We did mention that our list doesn’t necessarily only mean racing cars, right? Riptide GP: Renegade takes the racing to the water. While some people may consider Riptide GP2 to be better, we quite liked the plot and post-apocalyptic setting of the game world in Renegade. You control an illegal hydro jet (essentially a very fast and manoeuvrable water scooter) and race against competitors on detailed race tracks while performing death-defying stunts. There’s also a fair amount of evasion involved, as the authorities look to shut down your illegal racing.
The fictional nature of the hydro jet, the fact that courses are decidedly not flat, and the element of performing stunts in exchange for speed boosts and points makes this an exciting game to play on Android. The game plays fairly well on budget smartphones as well. It currently costs Rs. 69 on the Google Play Store, but the graphics and fast-paced gameplay make this well worth your time and money.
Thrill-Ride Environments – Blast across floating factory platforms, brave hurricane-strength waves, and infiltrate a military base in the midst of battle. Every race track is packed with interactive set pieces, dynamic obstacles and secret shortcuts.
• Deep Career Mode – Battle your way through a variety of races and boss fights to reach the top of the underground hydro jet racing circuit. Earn cash and experience to upgrade and customize your hydro jet, unlock new stunts, and increase your rider’s performance.
• Online Multiplayer – Compete online in thrilling 8 player matchups against the best players from around the world.
• Split Screen Multiplayer – Challenge your friends in local split-screen multiplayer championships. Play with up to 4 players on a single machine! (Additional gamepad controllers required.)
• Challenge Mode – Take command of the leaderboards and test your skills against ghost recordings of your friends’ best performances.
• Transforming Vehicles – Collect and upgrade a garage full of blisteringly fast hydro jets that transform while you ride them. Win money to upgrade and customize each one.
• State of the Art Water Racing – Riptide GP: Renegade brings dynamic water racing to a new level of excitement with breathtaking water physics, splash-tastic spray effects, and more! Every race is different because the surface you race on is always changing.

Asphalt 9 legends –
Asphalt 9: Legends is a racing video game developed by Gameloft Barcelona and published by Gameloft. Released on July 25, 2018, it is the ninth main installment in the Asphalt series. In comparison to previous entries, there are several new and improved features, such as a prestigious car lineup, new control schemes, including the autopilot mode called Touch Drive, and race modes, and the reimplemented “shockwave nitro” from Asphalt 6: Adrenaline. The graphics are considered significantly improved compared to its 2013 predecessor, Asphalt 8: Airborne.
Gameplay –
The gameplay in Asphalt 9 is similar to Asphalt 8: Airborne, with noticeable differences in graphics and design. There were 48 cars featured in the game when soft-launched, but the worldwide release saw the introduction of four new cars, leading to 52 cars. There are currently 99 cars as of July 2020. Like its predecessor, each of the cars belongs to a class progressively featuring higher performance and rarity: D, C, B, A, and S. The player starts with a car in the lowest class (Class D), the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.
All cars in the game now require “blueprints” to unlock and then subsequently “startup”, with each of them having anywhere from 3 to 6 stars. For each new star, the car’s performance capability is increased (at the cost of a lesser fuel tank quantity).
Each car can also be customized with the new car editor feature. Upon unlocking a car, the player can choose from a few official stock colors. Once the car has been stared up at least once, the player can create custom paint job colors to the body, rims, and brake calipers for most models. Some models also allow for carbon parts on the hood, trunk, and wings. Several cars are also convertibles (they can be converted from closed roofs to open ones in game), like the BMW Z4 LCI E89 and McLaren 570S. Introduced in the 2019 Summer Update, several cars like the Mercedes-AMG GTS could have special tyres, rims and changes to the bodywork added to the car.
Also new to the series are “clubs”, where up to 20 players can collaboratively score “reputation points” to achieve rewards. The more reputation points the club scores, the better rewards, ranging from credits to blueprints for cars.
In the game, there are three playing modes: Career, Multiplayer, and Events. In career mode, the player completes single-player “chapters” that each consist of several series of races focusing on a certain car class or manufacturer. In Multiplayer, the player competes against other online players in real time. In Events, the player participates in a daily or weekly competition to beat other players’ times or earn other items.

Real Racing 3 –
Real Racing 3 is a racing game, developed by Firemonkeys Studios and published by Electronic Arts for iOS, Android, Nvidia Shield and BlackBerry 10 devices. It was released on iOS and Android on 28 February 2013 under the freemium business model; it was free to download, with enhancements available through in-app purchases. Overtime and despite an expensive virtual economy ingame, the developers began to tolerate the use of playing with time zones in order for the players to watch unlimited ads to get free gold.
The game is the sequel to 2009’s Real Racing and 2010’s Real Racing 2. Primarily due to the freemium nature of the game, it received less favorable reviews than its predecessors, although the gameplay remains generally lauded.
Game features include over 45 circuits at 20 real-world locations, a 43-car grid, and over 300 licensed cars from 33 manufacturers such as Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ford, Ferrari, McLaren , Chevrolet and Koenigsegg. Unlike in the previous Real Racing games, players are required to maintain and service their vehicles, requiring in-game cash and real-world time.
Gameplay –
At the start of the player was given, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS is loaned for the tutorial. Afterwards, the player was required to buy a Nissan Silvia S15 or a Ford Focus RS but after the 8.0.0 update you start with a Formula 1 car as a starting car.
The player begins the game at driver level 0 and increases levels by earning “fame points” (similar to experience) based on performance. Gold coins, the premium in-game currency, are rewarded at each level up. Depending on the amount of fame points required to reach the new level, the game rewards from 5 to 100 gold coins. The game as a whole is divided into multiple series, each series is further subdivided into several tiers, and each tier into one to three individual races.

Need for Speed: No Limits –
Need for Speed: No Limits is a free-to-play racing video game for iOS and Android, and a mobile installment in the Need for Speed video game series, developed by Firemonkeys Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It is the twenty-first installment in the franchise, the franchise’s second free-to-play title (after Need for Speed: World), as well as the franchise’s first original title made for mobile devices, unlike past mobile games in the series that were adaptations or companions of various Need for Speed games. It was released on September 30, 2015.
Gameplay –
Need for Speed: No Limits has a heavy focus on street racing, vehicle customization, and avoiding the police.
The player must race in “Campaign races” (which is considered the game’s story mode), “Car Series races” (where only certain cars may participate to win in-game rewards) and “Rival Races”, which are ghost-based multiplayer races. As well, the player can participate in time-limited special events, where the player will be loaned a special car for use in the event. If the player finishes the event before the event time runs out, the player will be able to keep the loaned car as a completion reward.
Most cars in the game can be customized with wheels, body-kits, widebody kits, paint jobs, and wraps, in addition to performance upgrades. Unique cars acquired from time-limited special events (as well as Ferrari cars), however, can never be visually customized.
Need for Speed: No Limits received mixed reviews. Critics praised the game’s visuals, controls and gameplay, but criticized its aggressive free-to-play system and short races.
