Most Popular CIS Russian organisation Virtus Pro has announced the establishment of a second Dota 2 squad named VP. Prodigy. As the name suggests the squad consists of youngsters from the CIS region. The squad is to be led by Egor “epileptick1d” Gringorenko and Vitaly “Save-” Melnik.
This squad has been created in hope of cultivating next generation gaming talent. Sergey Glamazda, VP’s general manager, wrote in a statement that “the second lineup allows young players to attain professional scene experience and knowledge without the enormous pressure of attaining instant results.” He added that the club will keep its eye on the prodigies and “members might join the main roster later – or even replace it completely in the long run.”
Epileptick1d and Save- will be joined by players, Dimitry “DM” Dorokhin, Albert “yume” Garaev and Rostislav “fn” Lozovoy. Epileptick1d and Save- were actually part of VP’s main roster. However, they were removed from the active roster in early February after disappointing performances.
“The thought of VP.Prodigy came to us back in January, however, only after the Leipzig series had it become more than just an inkling. The idea is fairly simple: the second lineup allows young players to attain professional scene experience and knowledge without the enormous pressure of instant result expectations. The club has acquired players that might join the main roster later — or even replace it completely in the long run,” Glamazda said in a statement.
Glamazda says that the main aim of this second roster VP.Prodigy is to qualify for “Major-status tournaments. Through open or closed qualifiers in the 2019/20 season, or the league system in 2020/2021 season.”
The team members have shown a lot of potential. FN is probably the most accomplished member of this team. He has played for teams like Vega Squadron, Team Empire, stood in for organisations like Gambit Esports and even VP’s main squad. FN is actually a temporary stand-in for the team. The player will be replaced once another “upcoming pubstar” is found. DM has some notable performance in a short career span. He achieved third place at Dota Summit 11 with Chaos Esports Club. He will be the offlaner for the team. Yume has played for teams like Gambit Esports, Team Empire and the recently disbanded Team Singularity.
