Mobile Legends: Bang Bang also known as Mobile Legends : 5v5 MOBA is a mobile online battle arena developed by Moonton. It was released in 2016 and has now widely become famous in southeast Asia. What’s special is that fact that it was also chosen as one of the medal event esport games for the 2019 SouthEast Asian Games. It has become quite a sensation in Southeast Asia, in fact it was the most downloaded free game app on the App Store in 2019.
The first Mobile Legends tournament by the name of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship, dubbed as M1 was held in Kuala Lumpur from 15th to 17th November in 2019.
Gameplay
The game is an online battle arena game. The teams facing each other fight to reach and destroy the enemies base while also defending their own. The main objective is to get the control of 3 paths: the ‘top’, ‘middle’ and ‘bottom’ path, through which the bases are connected. Now each team has 5 players controlling 5 different ‘heroes’.
The heroes are divided into 6 roles Marksman, Assassin, Mage, Support, Fighter and Tank.
The mode described above is the main mode. The game also features different kinds of gameplay by the name of arcade by the names of
- Survival, a Battle Royale game mode
- Chess-TD, a Tower Defense game mode
- Magic Chess, an Auto Battler game mode
In order to popularise the game more and extend its reach the company Moonton has made a lot of 3rd part collaborations, for example Moonton has a partnership with Yuniarto who is an Indonesian comic book artist best known for a series Garudayana. The comic includes a character by the name of Gatotkaca which as of now is a fully playable hero in the game.
