World Number 4 and India’s highest-ranked player in the game Tekken 7, Abhinav Tejan has revealed that the ongoing lockdown has affected his gameplay for the worse.
The Corona Virus pandemic has shaken the world by a humongous extent. With over a million cases, it has emerged out to be a major crisis. Which all the global nations are facing at the present moment. India too has reacted quite professionally. It has put in effect a 3-week long lockdown in a bid to stop the outgrowth of this virus. The world has come to a stand-still and so has sports. E-sports live events have been affected severely with most of the events getting cancelled or postponed.
Abhinav Tejan is a major force in the Indian Tekken Gameplay. Even he has had to face the repercussions of this global lockdown.
Hailing from Delhi, Abhinav Tejan has been a vital cog in the Indian gaming world and started this exhilarating journey way back in 2010. He’s represented India in 4 international tournaments and his best performance includes being placed sixth at the International e-sports Federation (IesF) 2017 in Bhusan, South Korea.
The 27-year-old has recently made it public that he’s playing PUBG, Tekken, COD and some other games and is streaming his games online. He also stressed on the importance of offline tournaments. He said it is crucial for the honing of his skills. But with the quarantine period going on, all the off line tournaments are either postponed or cancelled. He has to resort to online tournaments which is affecting his game. He also said that Esports players are better off at home during quarantine than other sports athletes. Because Esports Gamers don’t need equipment which are not available within the confines of an athlete’s home.
Now that the major broadcasting channels have nothing to air and broadcast, they might start broadcasting e-games. Though this still has a long way to go, but such a period might actually end up being a break-through moment for e-sports.
