Tempostorm, an American esports tournament video game team has signed Ng “Blistzchung” Wai Chung to its Hearthstone Program.
Early this October Blizzard banned Blistzchung for support of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong against Chinese government. Blizzard stated that Blistzchung’s action is against the policies of the company and issued a ban for a year. It also resulted in revocation of the prize money.
Later, the ban was reduced to six months along with assurance to hand back the prize money. Contrary to Blizzard’s reaction, Tempostorm stated that they encourage and support players to speak out and stand for their beliefs.
Tempostorm also stated that they value the integrity and ideals of their players.
Tempostorm’s CEO Andry Yavuk said, “Blitszchung exemplifies what Tempo believes in and we welcome him as an ambassador for our brand.” Though Blistzchung cannot compete in Blizzard Esports (of which Tempostorm is also a participant) but according to Tempostorm Ng will “increase his(Blitszchung) streaming presence and will represent the brand abroad”.
On the other hand, Blitszchung is in dilemma to continue his Hearthstone carrier. But he is of opinion that he has not reached his professional goals and will compete again once the ban is lifted.
Disregarding all these ups and downs Congratulations to our player!
