Future of E-sports in India – 2025

The future of e-sports in India is bigger and worldwide. The Covid-19 has triggered numerous changes in our habits, with people constrained to their homes, trying to come to terms with life on pause, finding various recreational activities, and amongst all the other things, they strived to find amusement online gaming. While current viewership is 17 million, but by 2025 , 85 million unique viewers will watch online e-sports tournament.

Boost in Lockdown of E-sports

The growth and future of e-sports in India is spectacular and it is proliferating at a good pace as the sector is now supported by various angel investors and venture capitalists. The industry grew at a CAGR of 21% during the lockdown, with a steadily increasing customer base crossing 300 million users The testimony for this statement lies in the increased preference and immense recognition of games like PUBG, free-fire and valorant.

The pandemic acts as a catalyst and with the entry of popular games, the community has seen a substantial boost in revenue and workforce.

Future of E-sports in India is the next big thing

The E-sports industry can have boundless height and scope in India. E-sports players have longer sessions and deeper engagements. According to the Indian federation of sports gaming, e-sports will see sudden growth in the country and reach a cumulative revenue of up to 11,900 crores. In India, 85% of online gaming takes place on mobile, convenience & flexibility has made gaming extremely popular amongst amateur and casual gamers making it amongst the top-five activities carried on a mobile phone.

The next normal- E-sports in India

E-gaming industries are witnessing an emerging global trend of collaboration/ partnership across television, over-the-top media making it a one-stop destination for consumers. Using gamification for training, learning edutainment-based games have become the new trend and are witnessing high growth and adoption. E- sports has hit the bars amongst consumers because of the social element of live streaming and gaming. Therefore, the future of e-sports would be more powerful than people think. 

Growth of e-commerce In India

E-gaming has a promising future in India. The credit for this majorly goes to the increased use of smartphones, easy availability and accessibility of technology and the internet, and appropriate network distribution. The future of e-gaming will be powered by smartphones, which will further reduce barriers to entry and allow even more gamers to pour in. Asian games federation committees contemplating the incorporation of online games in the tournament as medle events which could further open the opportunities to invest in the sector and attract a large number of players.

As online gaming is a platform that gathers a bunch of people together, it can lead to creative opportunities in making something new and relevant to the customers.
