COVID-19 has wreaked havoc in the entire world. Labelled as a pandemic by the WHO, it has potentially led to the disruption of normalcy in the world. It has further led to the postponing and cancelling of major programs and events across the globe. And the Esports world has also not been left out. Adding to the list of events getting cancelled or postponed because of COVID-19, us the CS:GO Brazil Major. It was originally slated to take place between 11th and 24th May. It has been rescheduled to November 19-22 because of the widespread outbreak of the virus in Brazil.
The prize money of the marquee’s CS:GO Brazil event in November will be a combination of the sum money of both the events, i.e USD $2 million. Such a lucrative amount will definitely attract a lot of players. Many will be waiting to play on the big stage and show their potential and exemplary abilities.
The tournament shall have the status of a championship event in the ESL pro tour and matches will be played in the original venue at the Jeunesse Arena, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fans can still use their May Major ticket for November Major. Fans will also have the option of a refund if they do not want to make use of the November Major ticket.
COVID-19 has resulted in a lot of leagues getting postponed. ESL and Flashpoint moved their Counter Strike leagues from Malta and Los Angeles respectively, to an online format. Also due to the worsening impact the virus has had on the US, ESL cancelled it’s ESL One Los Angeles Major Dota 2, earlier this month.
