The first edition of PUBG Peacekeeper Elite Championship 2019 ended Dec 29 2019. With Chinese giants XQF narrowly coming out on top with 140 points. They win PEC 2019. They were closely followed by the other two Chinese teams, 4AM and DKG with 138 and 134 points respectively.
The competition was a closely contested one with the Chinese teams being dominant from the start.
The three Indian teams Fnatic, Soul and Synerge finished 8th, 12th and 15th respectively
It was somewhat of a photo finish at the competition. With XQF coming behind from the 3rd position to lift the trophy in the end. Before the start of the last game it was DKG who led with 4AM in second place and XQF in 3rd.
The ball was in DKG’s court and they had to have a decent game on Miramar to take home the trophy. They had to make sure that they were eliminated after their counterparts.
But enter Fnatic, the Indian team played spoilsport in the last map. Knowing they had little chance of breaking into the top 5. Fnatic eliminated DKG in the 15th place to turn the competition on its head. DKG bowed out with just 2 points to their name. It was a case so close yet so far for the Chinese team.
With DKG out it was 4AM who were in pole position to win the competition.
They seemed to have won it when they eliminated Soul and surged ahead of DKG. But, it seemed that it was XQF’s day as 4AM too bowed out relatively early and ended with 138 points. With both their competitors out XQF knew they had a slim chance of winning the entire thing. If they could take the Chicken Dinner in the final game.
They go to work slowly but steadily wiping out teams with calculated aggression and some very early rotations into the zone. With 3 teams remaining XQF had to get all the remaining kills to win the competition. They started off in fine fashion wiping out Cloud9. The last team left were Team Queso, a team which wasn’t doing well at the tournament. With “Paraboy” leading the charge they defeated them to take the Chicken Dinner and ¥1,100,000.
Earlier in the day, it was a good start for the Indian teams with Team Soul ending the first game on a high by finishing 3rd on Erangel. In doing so they also managed to kill off 4AM which was a huge confidence boost for the team.
But the closest an Indian team came to win a game was Fnatic who came second in the proceeding game.
“Sc0utop” came clutch into the game ending with an astronomical 11 kills to his name and delivering one of the finest individual performances of the competition. They even held a 3v2 advantage coming into the last fight but lost to eventual champions XQF.
It wasn’t a competition to remember for the Indian teams as such. But they did manage to have a say on the final rankings and showed glimpses of the potential they have. Apart from the Chinese teams, it was only Cloud9 who managed to get a Chicken Dinner. Showcasing the dominance that the Chinese teams held
4AM’s “33Svan” ended as the tournament’s MVP with 29 kills to his name closely followed by XQF’s “Paraboy” who ended with 28 kills. But, it was “Paraboy” who dealt more damage, his damage statistics were well above 6000, the highest in the competition.
