The Last of Us part 2 is an action adventure game developed by Naughty dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PS 4. In The Last of Us Part 2, player controls a 19 year old Ellie, who comes in a conflict with a mysterious cult in post-apocalyptic United States. Game contains survival horror elements and is played from third person perspective. Players can use firearms, improvised weapons and stealth to defend against enemies and cannibalistic creatures infected by mutated strain of fungus.
Game history –
Work on Last of Us Part 2 started in 2014, soon after the release of The Last of Us Remastered. The Last of Us Part 2 is directed by Neil Druckmann. The game’s launch was delayed due to logistical problems arising from the COVID-19.
The Last of Us Part 2 was launched on 19 June 2020. But the game failed to get much good response from players.
Gameplay Of The Last Of Us Part 2 –
The Last of Us Part 2 is a single player action-adventure survival game played from a third person perspective. Players can use firearms, bows, improvised action and stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus.
The gameplay mechanics in part 2 have also expanded upon its predecessor the Last of Us. In it the players character can traverse the environment more openly by being able to reach higher vantage points by jumping and climbing while playing. Players can also crawl in a prone situation to evade enemies. Throughout the game, players will have non-player characters assisting them. Additionally, long portion of game is set in Seattle, Washington.
Plot of The Last of Us Part 2 –
*SPOILER AHEAD *
Five after the event of the first game The Last of Us, Joel and Ellie are living in Tommy’s settlement in Jackson. During the time, Ellie has made some friends with Dina and Jesse. And entered in a relationship after the couple broke up. In the winter when Joel and Tommy go missing while observing the movement of nearby infected, Ellie and Dina go to investigate. Tommy, frustrated that Jackson does not have the resources to fight the WLF, pursues them to their base in Seattle on his own.
With authorization from Tommy’s wife Maria. Ellie and Dina go after Tommy, who has already killed several WLF members. While avoiding WLF patrols in Seattle, the pair are attacked by a large group of Infected and, upon escaping, Ellie reveals her immunity to Dina, who in turn reveals she is pregnant.
The next day, with Dina physically weakened by her pregnancy, Ellie pursues Tommy alone and encounters Jesse, who had followed them to Seattle, but has been wounded, leaving Ellie to continue her journey alone.
While searching for a member of Abby’s group named Nora, she encounters the Seraphites, a group of religious fanatics who are battling the WLF over control of Seattle. Eventually, Ellie tracks down Nora and beats her for information on Abby’s location. As Nora succumbs to her injuries, Ellie learns she is a former Firefly, causing her to recall how, two years ago, she investigated the hospital Joel rescued her from and learned he lied about the Fireflies being unable to find a cure.
Back in the present, Abby shoots Tommy and brawls Ellie and Dina, overpowering them, though she spares them upon learning the latter is pregnant and warns them to leave Seattle.
Several months later, Ellie and Dina are living on their own farm, taking care of the latter’s child, though Ellie still suffers posttraumatic stress disorder from Joel’s death. When Tommy arrives with information on Abby’s whereabouts in Santa Barbara, Ellie, unable to leave her past behind, leaves to confront her. Meanwhile, Abby and Lev arrive in Santa Barbara searching for the Fireflies and manage to contact them.
The pair are instructed to head to Catalina Island, before being captured by the Rattlers, a gang of bandits. When Ellie arrives, she kills the Rattlers and rescues the pair, before fighting Abby, but can’t bring herself to kill her, so she allows her and Lev to leave. Returning to the farm, Ellie finds it empty, as Dina left with her baby. Recalling a recent memory where she promised to try to forgive Joel, Ellie leaves Joel’s guitar at the farmhouse and heads off to an uncertain future.
Criticism of The Last of Us Part 2 –
Last of Us Part 2 was launched on 19 June 2020. But the game failed to win the hearts of gamer. They criticized many things in Last Of Us Part 2.
On 27 april Sony announced that Last of Us Part 2 will be released on 19 June, but earlier the same day, several videos, cutscenes, gameplay and plot details were leaked. Druckmann tweeted that day that he is heartbroken for his team who have devoted years in the development of the game and fans who waited for The Last of UsPart 2 so eagerly. However Sony later found out the hacker, who was not affiliated to Sony and Naughty dog. But after the leak of the plot and gameplay fans lose all interest in the game.
All the plot of the game was leaked. Player took various social handles to show their anger for Sony and Naughty Dog. Fans were very unhappy from the security system of the Sony and criticised a lot. And the effect of the leaks is clearly visible. Many players show their disappointment and disliked the game. That’s the reason that Last of Us Part 2 have received 2 stars from google users.
Few players were so disappointed that they didn’t even try the game. This made the whole Last of Us Part 2 team disappointed as well, as their years of efforts didn’t pay back because of leaks.
