The Tekken World Tour Finals for 2019 finally concluded, this year in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 19 players who qualified for the finals were ROX|Knee, RB|Anakin, UYU|LowHigh, JDCR, THY|Chikurin, RB|Arslan Ash, Talon|Kkokkoma, CRaZY|SuperAkouma, GG|AwaisHoney, Fate|Ulsan, UYU|Double, ROX|Chanel, AMPLFY|Rangchu, ROX|Abel del Maestro, Jimmy J Tran, Yamasa|Nobi, COOASGAMES|Noroma, Disrupt|Shadow20z and GG|Saint.
One man came out on top as the world’s best player. Yuta “Chikurin” take completely dominated one of the most exciting Tekken 7 tournaments in history to win the 2019 TEKKEN World Tour in Bangkok. Initially Chikurin wasn’t one of the game favorites. But following an incredibly strong 3-1 performance in the group stage, that opinion began to change.
Chikurin Journey
In the top eight, he faced Shoji “Double” Takakubo, arguably one of the best Marshall Law players in the world. The two played an exciting game. It was the closest anyone came to taking down Chikurin on the final day. The pair battled to a 2-1 finish where his Geese Howard barely pulled out a final-round win. The win against Double meant that he now had to one of the greatest Tekken players ever and tournament favorite, Bae “Knee” Jae-Min in the finals.
In a battle of Geese and Steve Fox, Chikurin showed that he was no less than Knee. He was well prepared for the matchup at hand. All three rounds were close. Both players played well, but Chikurin’s Geese really stood out in the third series, leading to a mad 3-0 sweep to earn him his ticket into the grand finals. Knee would then face off against Soo-hoon “UlsanGoDing” Lim, who had just eliminated the last American, Hoa “Anakin” Luu out of the event.
Knee swapped over to his secondary Paul to face off against Ulsan’s top tier Kazumi, but the change didn’t work. Ulsan won the first two rounds in convincing 2-1 fashion. That led to Knee switching back to Steve for the elimination round, but it wasn’t enough to beat Ulsan.

Every single round went to a deciding match, but Chikurin seemed like he was prepared to face anything. A standing 4+3 combo was usually his go-to move and it worked a majority of the time, just like Ulsan’s low parry combo was usually able to bring good results. At the end of it Chikurin came out the last man standing and was awarded the title World’s best player. This win is Chikurin’s first since Summer Jam 13 back in June.
